Ohhh Ms. Pearl

Let us be real here...When you see this picture (seafood lovers out there) your mouth starts to water. Softshell crab with sweet tomatoes and corn ragu, pan friend skate sandwich and a bucket of fresh steamers. If that doesn't do it for ya, then i do not know what will. All these mouth-watering dishes are from Pearl Oyster Bar in NYC. Okay....what I am about to say is a HUGE deal. I think I am declaring Pearl Oyster Bar my first meal of choice once returning home for the summer. Being land bound out here in Colorado, there is no fresh seafood, so why wouldn't I want some fish on my return home? Lets stick with Pearls for now, if anything else pops up that makes me feel the way these pictures do then I'll let you know. PS: make sure not to go to Pearls September 4th-10th. Pearl runs shit & has decided she's going to take off for a little summer vaca.

The Cooking Machine

People wonder where my love for food came from. Then I remind them about my mama's cooking :)

Smash-A-Fied

Munchies meal of choice: Smash Burger
Word to the wise: stick with the 1/3 lb, unless you wana feel like you just consumed an entire cow

Du-Du-Dulceee

I would nominate Oreos as one of my top five favorite store bought cookies. Dipping those things in milk and letting them soak until the cookie falls apart is oh so yummy. I recently came across Dulce De Leche Oreos! While I usually stick to the original (try to stay away from the double stuff and mint Oreos) I could not help but crave one of these babies. For those who don't know, dulce de leche is a caramel flavor. Lets think about this, chocolate cookie with caramel filling. Now what sounds bad about that? I need to get my hands on these babies, but unfortunately they have not been released in America yet. I'll just have to wait it out.

Happy Holiday!

Happy 4/20 from Boulder, Colorado

Home Sweet Home

"Boulder might be the closest a college town is to heaven - and not just because it is located at 5430 feet of rocky mountain high altitude. It is 27 square miles of relief from reality." -Sports Illustrated

I Think I'm Turning Japanese...

A spicy tuna roll is a classic must order every time i go out for Japanese food, but Katsuya has put a spin on the classic. They offer spicy tuna over cripsy rice that is to die for! The rice has this chewy, crunchy, amazing texture that balances the gooey spicy tuna. The thinly sliced jalapeno ontop is just an added bonus. I have dreams about this dish.

Oh Bay Cities, How I Miss You

Going to CU Boulder I am constantly surrounded by a bunch of California natives. Majority of the ones that come from LA always talk about Bay Cities. I heard insanely amazing rumors about this place and I made it a priority to have one before leaving LA to come back to school. After sleeping in San Diego for the night, I took the earliest train back to LA and a $50 cab ride (booo LA traffic!) back to the hotel just in time to wake my friends, place my online Bay Cities sandwich order & drive off to the beach. Unwrapping the sandwich slowly, I did not know what to expect. I bit into my chicken, lettuce, tomato & extra italian dressing sandwich and went straight to heaven. The golden brown bread made that sandwich what it was: Beautiful! Bay Cities Italian Deli is a must when out in California.

Spa Q

Qdoba, or as my friend Lindsay and I like to call it, Spa Q, has recently become a Wednesday tradition for us. Every Wednesday at the same time, always beating the line, we place our orders for our fave Qdoba treats. While she likes to stick with the chicken burrito with just rice & no beans, I like to switch it up. I have come to really enjoy their taco salad. While a recent spring break trip has forced me to order it 'naked', I do not mind. As long as there is sour cream to accompany my salad, it is all good. We have even racked up enough loyalty points on our Q cards for a free burrito :)

LA

Amazing meal @ BREADBAR in LA! My best friend Lindsay Ostacher of RunwayNoise ordered a one of a kind hotdog that was to die for! The bread wrapping the dog was perfectly cheesy, my favorite! I ordered the steak salad with blue cheese. The steak was cooked to perfection and the salad as a whole was simply delicious. Not only was the food amazing, but so was the service! Our waitress recommended two fantastic desserts then brought out one for free! Who doesn't love a free flour-less chocolate cake? Overall, a purely wonderful meal.

Between Bread

After watching "The Best Thing I've Ever Ate - Between Bread Edition," i decided to post the best sandwich I have ever eaten. These sandwiches can be found at the Espresso Italian Market & Grill in Sag Harbor, NY. All there sandwiches are freshly made on the most amazing focaccia. Also don't forget to drench the sandwich in their addicting house dressing!!
